Dolores Coe O'Keefe

Dolores (Swett) Coe O'Keefe passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 after a short illness. She was born May 26, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas to Francis Laforest Swett and Beatrice Rosaline (Thomas), she grew up in East Eddington, Maine. She graduated from Bangor High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Education from University of Hartford, an M.S. in Reading Education from CCSU, and a 6th year certificate in Gifted Education from UCONN. A resident of Windsor Locks, CT for more than 40 years, she was a beloved Reading/Language Arts teacher at Windsor Locks Middle School for 30 years. She had a life-long love for reading, needlework, piano, and genealogy and was a proud member of the Mayflower Society. She also enjoyed raising a series of Yorkshire Terrier pups over the years. After retirement, she became a member of the UCONN League and the American Association of Retired Teachers. She was a long-time communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in Windsor, and more recently an active member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Congregation in Storrs. She is survived by her devoted daughter Deborah (Coe) Field and son-in-law William of Chaplin, CT, a sister Deborah Magee of Texas, several nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was predeceased by siblings Beatrice Francena (Swett) Ferrin, Harry Benjamin Swett, Elizabeth Ann (Moore) Farrington, and her loving first and second husbands, William Michael Coe and Philip Charles O'Keefe. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel in Storrs, CT on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 4:00pm. Burial will be in Bangor, ME at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel, 42 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, CT 06268.
