Dolores “Loli” Alvarez, 78, of North Windham, CT passed away on April 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in San Sebastion, Puerto Rico on November 28, 1944, the daughter of the late Florito and Modesta Muniz Alvarez.
Dolores will be deeply missed by her devoted son David Alvarez and his wife Brigette of Danielson, CT, her beloved daughter Julisa Sanchez Alvarez of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico; loving grandchildren Jordan Alvarez, Dominic Alvarez, Lauren Alvarez, Drake Alvarez, Edward Perez Sanchez, Edwin Perez Sanchez and Roberto Jose Rodriguez Sanchez; siblings Eulogio Alvarez and Ceferino Alvarez as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Carmen Lidia Quintana, Aurea Alvarez and Maria Luiza Alvarez.
Dolores moved to Willimantic, CT when she was 18 years old and worked at American Thread Mill for 21 years until they closed in 1985. She eventually retired from General Cable (Brand Rex) and Windham Hospital in 2019 after 28 years of service.
There are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery on Club Rd., Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dolores’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
