Dennis Sheehan Obituary
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Dennis Sheehan of Andover, CT on January 6th. Dennis was born on his mother's birthday, October 23, 1946. When he was 9 years old, he was stricken with Measles Encephalitis and had to endure many years of trying to live his best life while fighting the seizures that would come without warning. He did fight through it all and had a wonderful childhood and fulfilling life. He graduated from RHAM High School and went on to work for many years at Brand Rex in Willimantic before moving back home to live near his parents in Andover. He was an avid fisherman and had a very funny sense of humor despite all the hardships he had to overcome.

He leaves behind his sister Kathleen Sideris and brother-in-law Ven Sideris of Mansfield Center, his niece Emily Sideris of North Windham and her son, Cody Sideris. He also leaves behind his nephew Brian Sideris and wife Tracy of Ridgefield, CT and their children Havana, Iliana, and Athen. He leaves behind his Aunt Virginia (Ginny) Osborne of Andover and many cousins as well.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Lawrence and Eleanore Sheehan, his grandparents Ellsworth and Christine Covell, and Grandmother Ann Sheehan, all of Andover. He was also pre-deceased by many aunts and uncles on both his mother’s and father’s side of the family. Even though life was a constant struggle to deal with the effects of his childhood illness, Dennis never lost his wonderful sense of humor and always had a funny comment about all kinds of things. He loved banana cream pie, and it became a running joke at all holiday gatherings for him to ask, “What’s for dessert?” (with the hope that it was on the dessert menu). The answer was always the same and it became necessary to always search for a really good banana cream pie to have at the end of the meal even though he seemed to be the only one who liked it. We will miss him very much.

Dennis’ family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Vanderman Place in Willimantic for supporting them and for providing them with the care that he needed at the end.

In accordance with his wishes, Dennis’ burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Gifts in his memory may be made to the ASPCA, St. Jude’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
