Del B. Burdick

Del B. Burdick, 103, of Chaplin, widow of Leon Burdick, died Sunday afternoon Sept. 30, 2007 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. She was born Nov. 20, 1903 in Indian Orchard, MA., the daughter of Erore and Florida (Beauvais) Boutin and moved to Chaplin in 1927. She was a member of the Chaplin Congregational Church and had served on several committees. Mrs. Burdick served on the Chaplin Elementary School Board for 16 years and also served on the William Ross Library Board for several years and was librarian for 15 years. She had been employed by Stop & Shop in Willimantic for 10 years and then by C.M. Burdick General Store in Chaplin for 15 years. Mrs. Burdick had served as a 4-H leader and was a member of Natchaug Grange # 68 and Little River Grange. She was predeceased by two sons, Edward and Searle Burdick. She is survived by two daughters, Louise Hawkins and her husband Leland of Mansfield and Phyllis Garrison of Chaplin; two daughters in law, Jane Burdick of Chaplin and Joyce Burdick of Windham; eleven grandchildren, Leland Hawkins Jr., Linda Louise Hansen, W. Kenneth York, Joel York, Cynthia Bibeau, Ed Garrison Jr., Sharon Garrison, Sandra LaChappell, Steven Burdick, Alan Burdick and Roger Burdick; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. There are no calling hours. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday Oct. 4th at 11:00am at Chaplin Congregational Church, Chaplin St., Chaplin, with interment following in Russ Cemetery, Chaplin.
