Deaconess Hannah Harris Marshall

Deaconess Hannah Marshall, 96, of Willimantic, CT passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Douglas Manor Assisted Living, Windham, CT. Hannah was born on April 23, 1919 to the parents of Elijah and Carrie McAlister in Egypt, MS. Her siblings included Darlene, Mary, Ora, Odessa, Macie, Elvera and Audrey, brothers, George, Louis, and Willie. The family lived and worked on a cotton farm where they grew sweet potatoes and corn. Hannah was known as a "Tom Boy" and she loved to ride horses. She lived with many relatives in various towns and states. Hannah moved to CT in the 1940's where she worked for a Dentist-Dr. Keegan. She later worked at Mansfield Training School and then to Electo Motive where she worked over 20 years. Hannah married twice Stanley Harris and Andrew Marshall. Her children included Stanley Freeman Harris Jr., Calvin Albert Harris, Andrew Marshall, Reatha Jenkins, Marion Madeline Hatcher, and Michael Allen McCalister her nephew she raised. She has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic, CT with burial to follow in New Willimantic Cemetery.
