Obituary

David Mitchell, of Coventry, formerly of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2026 after suffering a heart attack. He was born in Windham, on June 2, 1964, the son of the late Leo Mitchell and Audrey Tyler. He grew up in Mansfield, graduating from E. O. Smith High School in 1982. David worked as a truck driver for Willimantic Waste for many years and recently worked at the Mansfield Drive-In.

Dave loved spending time with his children and spending time on his Harley riding with friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping when he was younger. Growing up in Mansfield, he spent a lot of his time at the Mansfield Drive-In with friends which he had great memories of and where he spent his last day.

David is survived by his daughter, Julia Mitchell of Coventry formerly of Mansfield where he shared a home, son James Mitchell of Mansfield, sister Terry Nielsen and brother-in-law Tom Nielsen of Storrs, niece Stephanie Bora, nephew Robert Mitchell, and niece Rebecca Bradford.

David was predeceased by his stepfather Kenneth Tyler, brother Phillip Mitchell, sisters Beverly Mitchell, and Cheryl Mitchell.

Donations in honor of David can go to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
