David Ronald Lyon, 76, of Columbia, passed peacefully in his home June 9, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on November 06, 1935, son of Wilfred and Rhea Lyon. He graduated from Windham High School with the Class of 1954 and was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. David was a member of the Sprinklerfitter's Union Local 669 for over 50 years. He was a staunch supporter of the N.R.A., Lifetime member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311, Lifetime member of the Fin, Fur & Feather Club of Chaplin, CT, as well as a 27 year devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a devout Roman Catholic and parishioner of St. Columba Catholic Church in Columbia. David enjoyed quality time with his wife Arlene, his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing cards and antiquing. David is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Alan and Bruce Lyon. He is survived by his sisters, Bernice Smith, Janice Walencewicz, and Joyce Smith. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Arlene, as well as his three daughters, Gillian Lyon of Lebanon, Jessica Peabody of Columbia, and Kristen Lyon of Lebanon. He is also survived by six beautiful grandchildren Ashley, Adam, Emily, Alexandra, Aubriana and Jenna, a great-grandson, Logan, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. David will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he has touched. His family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 15, 2012 at 10:30am at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church Street (Route 85), Hebron, CT with assembly at church. Burial will follow in the West Street Cemetery, Columbia.
