David Earl Grant, 47, of Columbia, died Saturday March 13, 2004 at his home. He was born November 21, 1956 in Willimantic, the son of Marjorie F. Grant of Columbia and the late Clarence S. Grant. David was a graduate of Windham High School and Bryant College. He was an Eagle Scout and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was employed as a computer programmer at several insurance companies in the Hartford area. David was an avid outdoorsman with a wide variety of interests, he never passed up an adventure or the opportunity to explore. He was a licensed pilot, a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Gold Wing Motorcycle Association and a member of the First Church of Christ in Wethersfield. In addition to his mother he is survived by 5 siblings. Stephen Grant of Clifton Park, NY, Robert Grant of Norfolk, MA, Catherine Engelhardt of Toms River, NJ, Barry Grant of Norwich, Philip Grant of Columbia, several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
