David A. Fisher

Professor David A. Fisher, 94, a longtime resident of Storrs, died January 5, 2002 in Easton, MD. He was born June 16, 1907 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Cornell University and received a Masters Degree from Columbia. He taught Mechanical Engineering first at City College of New York, then at Tufts University and from 1948 to 1972 at the University of Connecticut. In 1936, Mr. Fisher married the former Margaret Jane Spence. She died in 1974. Since his wife s death, he has enjoyed woodworking and was a founding member and treasurer of Friends of the Mansfield Library. He is survived by a daughter, Priscilla Thut, of Royal Oak, MD, a son, Robert Fisher of Canton, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Storrs Congregational Church on Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be private in Storrs Cemetery.
