Daphne M. (Kjellquist) Briggs, a beacon of warmth and selflessness, passed away at the age of 69 in Willimantic, CT, on October 8, 2024, due to cardiac arrest after a long battle with kidney failure. Born in Manchester, CT, on September 7, 1955, Daphne was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who filled the lives of those around her with love and joy.
Daphne, known affectionately to her family and friends as a loving and friendly soul, grew up in the embrace of her parents, the late Robert Kjellquist and Helen Sheldon Kjellquist. Her siblings, Robin Arnold and her husband Dean Arnold, Robert Kjellquist Jr., and the late Eric Kjellquist, shared in the tapestry of her life's journey, along with her sister-in-law Pat Briggs and brother-in-law Steven Briggs.
A proud graduate of Coventry High School, Daphne carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout her life. She spent many fulfilling years working at the Answering Service and various customer service call centers, where her innate ability to connect with people shone brightly.
Daphne's life was a testament to her selfless nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a cherished matriarch whose legacy continues through her beloved children, Jason Briggs and his wife, Jennifer Bissell, Theresa Briggs-LaBerge, and her husband, Christopher Briggs-LaBerge. Her love will forever be reflected in the lives of her seven grandchildren, Autumn Briggs, Alex Delano, Caitlyn Patterson, Shane Patterson, Daniel Meng, Robert (RJ) Petrowsky, and Megan Briggs, and her two great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her heart.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Daphne found solace and happiness in camping trips with friends and family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her competitive spirit and love for fun were evident in the lively card games she played with her grandchildren, where she was known for her expert SkipBo skills. The excitement of trips to the casino was a favored pastime, shared with those she loved most.
Daphne's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. Her influence was far-reaching, touching the lives of many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family. Words alone cannot capture the essence of Daphne's kind and friendly nature; she was the embodiment of love and will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and the joy she brought to the world.
