Cynthia A. Sposito, 76, of Coventry, CT, passed away on November 12, 2025. She was born on April 19, 1949, in Windham, Connecticut to Gretchen E. Therrien Tellier and Homer R. Therrien.
Cindy is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, James, and her cherished daughter, Amy. She also leaves a sister, Susan Martineau and her husband, Glenn, a brother, Thomas A. Therrien and his wife Carolyn, and a brother, David C. Therrien. Also, brother in-laws John J. Sposito Jr., Robert Sposito, Francis Sposito, Edward Sposito, and sister in-laws Rosemary Hart, Anne Sposito, Joan Fitzhugh. And many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents.
Cindy graduated from Lyman Memorial High School in 1967. She went on to attend Eastern Connecticut State University, graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She went on to substitute in school libraries and serve on the PTOs of Coventry Grammar School and George Hersey Robertson School. She also taught religious education and vacation bible school for many years at St Mary Church. It was through her work at Connecticut Bank and Trust Company that she met Jim, when he would bring in his business deposits.
Cindy was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. Over the course of 40 years, she served as troop leader for Amy’s troop and then another, was camporee coordinator, cookie cupboard coordinator and worked as a treasurer throughout this time. Cindy was a lifetime member of the Echo Grange. She was also a member of the Coventry Historical Society.
Cindy will be remembered for her dedicated volunteerism and her love of baking, gardening and crafts.
Calling hours will be held on November 19, 2025 from 5pm - 7pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her funeral Mass will be held on November 20, 2025 at 10am at St. Mary Church in Coventry, CT, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Coventry.
