Cynthia "Cindy" Schaffer Obituary
Cynthia “Cindy” Lou Schaffer, 71, of Ashford, CT passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2022. She was born in Willimantic to Stanley and Mildred (Spinks) Jones. Cindy graduated from Edwin O. Smith High School in Mansfield, then worked for Eastern Connecticut State University. She spent a better part of four decades taking care of students and professors, as a secretary in the Biology Department. She would not have been able to survive her university days if it wasn’t for her coworkers that became close friends. Cindy enjoyed being an avid softball player and bowler during her younger years. Cindy spent the better part of her life with the Love her life Harvey Daggett who was taken all too soon from her in 2013. As time went on and the moments passed by, Cindy could be found spending time with her grandchildren, which filled her heart with joy and happiness. They could do no wrong in Memes eyes and that was perfectly okay in her world. She will be sorely missed by her children, Bonny Jo and Shane Sr more than words can describe. Her only Sibling, Dale Ann Jones, will cherish the lifetime of memories they made together, and will truly miss her. Dale and her Bo, Dave Kwaczala are grateful for the times they stayed with her on their visits from California.
She is survived by her son Shane Schaffer, Sr. (Deb Wentworth), daughter, Bonny Young (Michael Young), grandchildren Kylee Degatano (Mike Degatano), Devin Bergin (Miranda Bergin) Ethan, Julia, Lexie, Nathan, Carter, and Shane Jr., great grandchild Kennedy Bergin; and sister, Dale Ann Jones (Dave Kwaczala). Cynthia was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Daggett and her parents.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic with a gathering immediately following at Pourhouse Storrs.
