Craig Schamback Obituary
With sadness and gratitude, we announce the passing of Craig Schamback of Scotland CT on Sunday August 18, 2024. After a long and valiant fight against renal and heart failure, he has found peace. Craig passed at the home he built with his wife Felicia by his side.
Born September 28, 1954, in Willimantic, CT the son of William (Bill) and Delia Simone Ducharme Schamback, Craig is survived by his loving wife Felicia Meikle; brother William Schamback and his wife Claire; brother Douglas Schamback; sister Joanne Todd and her husband Jeff; mother-in-law Janet Meikle; the Meikle siblings and nephews. Craig was predeceased by his parents, his brother Kurk Schamback, and sister-in-law Ruth Schamback.
Craig’s warmth and humor made him friends everywhere. He befriended classmates from his time at Windham Schools (WHS Class of 72); colleagues from his decades-long career as a carpenter and co-owner of Timber to Trim Carpentry; neighbors everywhere he lived; and people he met over breakfast or a beer. He cherished his close friends.
Craig was a big guy with big feet. He joked that he just wanted to die in shoes that fit. Craig and Felicia loved the home they built, and a good day was at home grilling delicious food, mowing the grass, and ending the day in the warm glow of a bonfire surrounded by friends and family.
Craig’s family thanks the team at Davita Windham Dialysis Center; caregivers from Hartford Healthcare including Dr. Doran, Dr. Haman, Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. Atef, Dr. Radojevic, and too many nurses to list; and the Scotland Ambulance crew.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. To honor his memory, lift a toast to Craig and hold your friends close.
