Constance V. Pate of Willimantic passed away September 21, 2013, alert, responsive and feisty to the very end! Born May 7, 1919, the daughter of Lucy and James Mazzola, Connie was a 1937 graduate of Windham High School, and was employed at Pratt & Whitney, the Electro Motive Company and Saga Food Service. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church, who selflessly and perpetually prayed for the welfare of others in all walks of life. An avid walker, she could often be seen scaling the many steep hills of Willimantic, even in her later years, to the astonishment of many. Her spirit will remain there, and in the hearts of those with which she came in contact. "The Little General" was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph A. Pate. She is survived by a son, Joseph V. Pate and his wife Susan (Heinonen) Pate of Orrington, Maine; and daughters Kathleen and Patricia of Willimantic; niece Cynthia and husband Wayne Wildermuth of New London; nephew Michael Collins and wife Tammy of Davenport, Iowa; grandsons Justin and Jacob Light, Joey and Hunter Pate, and great-grandchildren Kailey, Kirstin and J.J. Light. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Berger, the staffs of St. Joseph Living Center, Windham Community Memorial Hospital, and especially home-caregiver Jenn Bozio for their compassionate care. Private family visitation and graveside services have been arranged, but the family would very much appreciate that remembrances and condolences be sent to
