Constance M. Mills

July 24, 1931 — January 21, 2011

Constance Margaret (Armstrong) Mills July 24, 1931 - January 21, 2011 Connie passed away quietly at home with her family by her side. She was always a kind woman and we all truly loved her. Connie grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts where she made good friends that have been with her always. She is remembered as "The prettiest girl at Wakefield High". Connie met her past husband, Richard "Dick" Mills, a minor league ball player(drafted by the Yankees but always a Boston Red Sox fan),a US Marine WWII veteran and a musician (Connie and Dick had their first date at the ball field). They married in 1951 and started a family, moving to Connecticut in 1961. Connie will always be thought of fondly as a hard working, gentle soul. She loved animals and owned horses, dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. Connie cared for the horses, dogs and cats of others too, earning a living doing so and the love of all she helped. Always a committed Red Sox fan she was so happy to see them finally win the World Series (twice)! The UCONN Women's basketball team became very important in her life after moving to Storrs, CT. in 1975. We knew to never call her during either game, but if you did, you were quickly forgiven. Connie was predeceased by her brother George "Archie" Armstrong and survived by her sister Beverly (Armstrong) Curley and sister-in-law Joan (Mills) Smart, many nieces and nephews and their families. She leaves behind her four children, daughter Deborah Jane Mills, son Richard Craig Mills and wife, Carol(Shea) Mills, daughter Jodi Corinne Mills and daughter Stacee Alane (Mills) Cole and husband Scott Cole and our dear "other sister" Leslie (Wilson) McMahon. Grandchildren, Brooke (Mills) Payne and husband David Payne, Bridget Mills, Erianthe Semerzakis, Craig and Luke Mills, Great-grandchildren Nathan and Olivia, Presley and Clayton. There are many memories to share and so many who loved our Mom (Grammy, GeGe).We remember all of you. A celebration of Connie`s life will be held at the families convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of NE CT. For online memorial guestbook, please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com .
