Constance Jacobson Obituary
The family of Constance “Jeanne” Regina (Gates) Jacobson of Coventry, CT is saddened to announce her passing on August 5, 2022, at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Walter C. Jacobson and her beloved daughter, Donna Lynn.
Born in Hartford, CT to Laurance Nelson Gates and Margaret Kelley Gates along with siblings; Margaret, Doris and Austin, Jeanne spent most of her life in Coventry where she met her husband. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Taylor and 10 nieces, 11 nephews and many more great nieces and nephews, all of whom meant the world to her. She also dearly missed her neighbors and friends at Orchard Hill Estates when her health required her move to Seabury in Bloomfield, CT.
She spent her early married life working at Manchester Modes, from where she proudly earned a small pension, then devoted her life to raising her daughter and caring for family. Active in her church and community Jeanne was known for her baking skills, especially holiday cookies, which she shared with family and friends. She loved reading, crocheting afgans for family, decorating her home for every holiday and collecting souvenirs from all her travels. She treasured every souvenir that Walter bought her and Donna. She loved vacationing throughout New England, New York and PA, often with nieces and nephews in tow, before and after she had her own family. She especially loved travelling the East Coast in search of every lighthouse. She knew each one by name and location.
Jeanne enjoyed her life and felt blessed. We will miss her dearly. Our family would like to acknowledge and thank her care givers at Seabury in Bloomfield and Masonicare of East Hartford.
