Clifford Thomas “Tom” Ward, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away June 9, 2022 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born July 16, 1955 to Clifford O. Ward and Althea (Stearns) Ward in Mansfield.
Tom’s skilled hands built, repaired and improved countless homes in the Northeast as he successfully ran his own business, Tom Ward Builders, for over 40 years. He was a master craftsman and believed in doing things right the first time.
One of Toms greatest joys was creating great memories for others and seeing them have a good time. It didn’t matter if it was a simple meal, a great party or a multi-day trip, Tom was the one who made it happen. His generosity was unmatched, and he had a deep belly laugh that was infectious to all around.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, but above all he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren who called him by his favorite name, Papa.
Tom was survived by his daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Charles Mull, Kimberly and Nicholas Lupacchino; five grandchildren, Ashlee Stimson, Alexis Caffrey, Adam Caffrey, Andrew Caffrey and Isla Lupacchino; his father and wife, Clifford and Vera Ward; his sister and brother and their spouses, Linda and Doug LaClair, and Jeff and Lisa Ward; a nephew and three nieces. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Martha Ward, mother Althea S. Ward, brother Kenneth Ward and many uncles and his very good friend Bill Palmer.
Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. We hope you will join us in wearing your Tom Ward Builders shirts if you have one. Tom would absolutely love that!
