Clifford Edward Howlett, of Columbia, born February 18, 1919 to Elizabeth (Chasse) and George LeRoy "Roy" Howlett in Willimantic Connecticut, passed away on May 1, 2011 peacefully at home. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Therese (Marrotte) Howlett. He is survived by his daughter Alene and her husband Mac Toedt of Columbia; his son William Howlett of Chaplin, his grandson John and his wife Kathleen Toedt of Columbia, his granddaughter Marnie Faupel of Columbia, and his grandson Ryan Howlett of Ashford. He is also survived by four great grandchildren; Alex and Brieanna Toedt, and Mariah and Noah Howlett. Cliff was predeceased by his grandson-in-law Mark Faupel. He is also survived by his brother-in-law John Marrotte and by many nieces and nephews. Cliff served in the China Burma India (CBI) Theater during World War II as a member of the 459th Twin Dragon Fighter Squadron of the Army Air Corp and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After his return from the service he began a thirty year career running the medical technology lab at Mansfield Training School. Cliff was known for his love and knowledge of cars and for his "IN INK" New York Crossword puzzles. Cliff was an avid reader and loved music, especially playing his organ. Box 146, Hebron, CT 06248. There are no calling hours. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 9th at 11:00AM at The Church of The Holy Family, 185 Church St.( Rte. 85) Hebron.
