Clarence L. Prue "Bud", 90, passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Windham Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bud resided for the last years of his life at Douglas Manor. Born on April 1, 1923 to Alice and Leo Prue, he resided in Willimantic all his life. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lucille (Woods) Prue. He graduated from St. Mary's School and Windham High School. He then served in the US Navy for six years during WWII. He is survived by his children, Anthony of Windham, Susan of Ellington, and Michael of West Chester, Ohio. He had six grandchildren, Kymberli Gaylor, Kristin Davis, Todd, Bryan and Scott Haddad and Christopher Prue. He also has 12 great grandchildren who were the light of his life and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sister and brother in law Mary and Ugo Masi of Willimantic, and sister in law Mary Prue of Bronx, NY. He was predeceased by his brother Leo and daughter in law Marge. During his life he enjoyed writing, bowling and bingo. He was an avid reader and loved his Red Sox and UCONN basketball teams. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Douglas Manor, especially his nurses Ashley, Michelle, and Emily. A heartfelt thanks to Recreation Director, Claire Chesmer, who was friend and confidant. Bud touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by family and friends. His family will receive friends on Monday March 17, 2014 between 5:00 and 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to Columbia Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 26, Columbia, CT. 06237.
