Claire L. Reed Faries, 78, of North Windham, was surrounded by her family when she went to heaven on January 13, 2012. She was born on February 3, 1933, daughter of Herbert and Lillian (Burnham) Copeland of Abington Ct. Claire was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family, a homemaker for many years. She was educated in local schools, graduated in her later years and was a student at ECSU She was known for her sewing and working with fine leather. She had a love of Genealogy, was part of Windham Historical Society and helped to sew together the Bi-Centenary Quilt and was a breast cancer survivor. Claire worked at Mansfield Training School, and later was a state home care provider for the developmentally disabled individuals until retirement. She was predeceased by her late husband James Faries and her daughter Claire Stratton. She is survived by her six children and spouses, Andy and Linda Baker of Chaplin, Dale and Cindy Baker of Lebanon, Stafford and Colleen Baker of Hampton, Rodney Reed of North Windham, Melody and John Wylie of North Windham and Bruce Reed and April Shepaum of Windham; along with 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and her sister Janet Padgett. Her family will receive relatives and friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday January 17th between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
