Claire Shea Obituary
Claire Elizabeth (Kelley) Shea passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital with her family present. In our mothers words: Claire was born on January 27, 1938 in Norwich, CT, the daughter of the late Vincent P. and Mary (Parks) Kelley of Lebanon, CT. Claire graduated from Lyman Memorial High School, then attended and graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She worked as an RN many years at St. Francis Hospital, Windham VNA and Natchaug Hospital. She served on the board of directors of St. Joseph Living Center from 2003 to 2017. Claire married Richard Nolan Shea on November 24, 1962 who predeceased her in September of 2012.
They were blessed with two wonderful children, daughter, Margret Shea Aleia and her husband Alan; son, Mathew Nolan Shea; two special granddaughters, Madden Aleia and Savannah Shea, as well as Alan’s son, Justin Aleia. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves a brother Vincent P. Kelley; sister Jane K. Cady and her husband Robert, as well as sister in law Andrea D. Kelley. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Claire was predeceased by her sisters, Kathrine K. Malone and Virginia K. Levonick and brother Robert F. Kelley, brother in law George Levonick and sister in law Alma Kelley.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Medical ICU at St. Francis hospital for their compassion and care in Claire’s final days.
There are no calling hours. Claire’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:00am at St Joseph Church, Willimantic, burial to follow at West St. Cemetery, Columbia.
