Cicely Grace (Potter) Postemski

December 21, 1931 — February 17, 2017

Cicely Grace Potter Postemski, 85, of Sprague, CT passed away February 17 at her home. Cicely was born in Windham, CT on December 21, 1931 to the late William R. Potter and Edith Colburn Potter. Cicely is survived by her beloved husband Anthony T. Postemski of Sprague, CT, children Vincent P. Postemski (Deborah), David M. Postemski (Sheryl), and Nancy C. Sasarak (Mark) all of Lebanon, CT and grandchildren Christopher Sasarak of Rochester, NY and Megan Postemski of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces and nephews. Cicely was predeceased by her first husband Peter Vincent Postemski as well as brothers Norman and Winston Potter and sister Carol Potter. Cicely had an outgoing, charitable, and adventurous spirit. Whether it was traveling solo on the Trans-Siberian Express or driving her Mustang with the top down and the wind blowing through her hair, Cicely always had kind words and a desire to connect with any friend, new, old, or a friend she just hadn't met yet. Cicely instilled the values of hard-work, independence, and charity in all of her children, but she gave something unique and special to each of them as well. With Vincent she shared her appreciation of art, which he made his own with his love of Photography and Film. With David she shared her love of history and the outdoors. With Nancy she shared her love of books and other cultures. She also shared her love of travel with everyone in her life. Her children fondly remember trips to Maine with Cicely and Peter to visit the Potters on Hobb's Pond. Cicely also planned yearly family trips to places like Fort Ticonderoga and Niagara Falls. Closer to home Cicely also loved music such as Jazz and learned to play the piano and could even play a little bit on the accordion. She also worked hard to keep a tidy house and her Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners were always much-anticipated events. In 1985 she married Tony Postemski, they complemented each other perfectly with their love of adventure, life, and a good meal. One memorable tradition was hosting Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Fourth of July picnics around their swimming pool. Her faithful companion, she and Tony traveled the world to locations like Jamaica, Poland, the Ukraine, Quebec, Calgary, the Yukon, Saint Croix, Cancun, Toronto, and numerous locations throughout the United States, but she especially enjoyed Texas and its bluebonnets. Finding someone as perfectly matched and building such a loving and caring relationship is something that we can all aspire to. Through her life she touched more people in more ways than this obituary can ever articulate. We'll always remember her stories, her laugh, her spunk, and most of all her love. Services will be private and Potters Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Donations in Cicely's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
