Christopher M. Strickett, 38, of Chaplin, CT passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 25, 2014. He was born in Derby, CT on March 11, 1976. Chris was a 1995 graduate of Parish Hill High School and he continued on to Mitchell College where he received his associates in Psychology. He then attended ECSU where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He started his career as a Mental Health Worker at Natchaug Hospital and was later employed by the State of Connecticut as a Forensic Treatment Specialist. Chris was an avid heavy metal fan, but his love of music spanned all genres. He was a devoted guitar player and he helped to form two bands, Humanity Abandon and As Hope Fades. When Chris was not spending time on his music he enjoyed riding on his motorcycle and spending time with his daughter, niece and nephews whom he adored. He also loved to travel and had visited Germany, France, Mexico, The Grand Canyon and Hawaii. He is survived by his loving parents Paul and Cynthia (Shuster) Strickett of Chaplin, CT; his daughter Maysie Jayne Strickett of Windham, CT; his sister Pamela Strickett of Columbia, CT; his brother Todd and his wife Melissa and their children Kolby, Maxx and Sofia of Chaplin, CT. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4:00PM-6:00PM, with a funeral service immediately following at 6:00PM, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195), Willimantic, CT.
