Christine (Beckwith) Dubina, 80, of Franklin, was welcomed into the arms of God on Sunday morning Dec. 19, 2004, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness with Parkinson's Disease. She maintained courage, faith and humor throughout her illness. Christine was a 1942 graduate of NFA and received her Bachelor's Degree in 1946 from the Willimantic State Teachers College. On July 19, 1947 she and Stephen Dubina were united in marriage. Her teaching career spanned 33 years, beginning at Maple St. School in Rockville. She then taught at the Helen Baldwin School in Canterbury, and the Oaks School, Natchaug School and North Windham School all in Windham. She was a member of the Manchester Glee Club, a 50 year member of the Franklin Grange, a member of the Franklin Republican Town Committee, the Franklin Historical Society and the Franklin VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Christine was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Yantic and Franklin Congregational Church. At the Franklin church, she had served as interim organist and as pianist for the children's choir. She also volunteered as a pianist for the Franklin Senior Center. As a musician, she had perfect pitch and could transpose,by ear, to any key to accompany other instruments and voices. Christine was a lifelong Red Sox fan and an expert knitter and crocheter. She rode and loved her father's Morgan horses. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter in law, Chuck and Kathleen Dubina of Woodstock and their children Charlie and Jennifer Dubina; a daughter Dale Dubina of Franklin and many first cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22, 2004 at 11:00am at the Franklin Congregational Church, 31 Meetinghouse Hill Rd., Franklin. Burial will be private in the Pautipaug Cemetery.
