Charles E. Robinson, 61, of Willimantic, husband of Vanessa Robinson, passed into the arms of the Lord on Thursday May 9, 2002 at the Windham Hospital. He was born May 7, 1941 in Booneford, N.C., son of the late Henry Lee and Vernon (Weatherman) Robinson. He grew up and attended schools in N.C. and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Charlie was employed as a pipefitter at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in E. Hartford for 34 years. He also worked as a security guard at Manchester Hospital for 7 years. He will be long remembered for his great love for his family, wonderful sense of humor, appreciation of nature and manning the grill at the many backyard cookouts. We will also remember Charlie for his faithful spreading of the Gospel right to the very end, his love of the Lord. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters and 2 stepsons to mourn his passing; Carol Clement and her husband Ralph, Rebecca Chalifoux and Sarah Robinson all of Mansfield, Joseph Gonzalez and Andrew Gonzalez both of Willimantic. Charlie?s pride and joy were his grandchildren; Kelly Robinson, Brandon and Amy Chalifoux, Denis Haddad, Angelika Clement, Andrew Gonzalez Jr., Ilianna and Deana Gonzalez and Christopher Scott. He is also survived by 5 devoted sisters; Bernice Norris of Spruce Pine, N.C., Mona Rodford of Nashua, N.H., Lucy Kates of Burnsville, N.C., Jeanne Segall of Hudson, N.H. and Barbara Gauthier of LaGuna Niguel, CA., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter Donna Haddad and a brother James Lee Robinson. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00pm. A celebration service will be held on Monday at 10:00am at the Baptist Fellowship, Rte. 6, Columbia with the Rev. Jack Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery.
