Charles W. Hill, Jr. of Columbia, CT died Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He would have been 86 on January 1. He was predeceased by his father Charles W. Hill, Sr.; mother Hattie H. Hill; and his sister Althea H. Beck. He is survived by his brother-in-law Henry M. Beck, Sr.; his nephew Henry M. Beck, Jr. and Henry's wife Doreen Z. Mouzakes; his nephew Curtis H. Beck; his niece Candace B. Tanner; his nephew Randolph E. Beck and Randolph's partner Johnnie Warren; his grandnephew C. Aaron Beck; his grandniece Emily L. Beck and her husband Benjamin G. Thacker; his grandnephew Will B. Tanner; and his grandniece Kelly S. Tanner. Charles was a graduate of the Windham school system and Brown University. He served his country in the Korean War. For his full work life, he was an employee of Connecticut Light and Power. Charles loved dogs passionately. He had a nearly equal love for shooting sports and was a loyal member of the Fin, Fur & Feather Club in Chaplin. He had a ready wit and wished to befriend all he met. As Charles wished, there will be no funeral services or calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Potter Funeral Home is handling Charles preplanned arrangements. Memorial gifts may be given to the nonprofit Card Home for the Aged, Incorporated, 154 Pleasant Street, Willimantic, CT 06226, which did so much to preserve Charles quality of life in his final years.
