Charles E. Fisher

Charles E. Fisher, 82, of Mansfield, husband of Beatrice (Racette) Fisher, died Saturday January 15, 2005 at the Windham Hospital. He was born August 24, 1922 in Plainfield, the son of William and Sarah (Foley) Fisher, grew up in Putnam and had lived in Mansfield since 1956. He was a graduate of Putnam High School, the University of Connecticut and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Stationary Engineer for the State of Connecticut at UConn and in Middlesex. Mr. Fisher was an avid golfer and a member of the Skungamaug River Golf Club. He and his wife spent many winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Thomas and Georgieanna Fisher of Mansfield, Norah and Joseph Caya of North Windham, Charlene and William Shea of Willimantic, 7 grandchildren, Rebecca and Christina Fisher, Lisa and Marc Caya, Sarah, Timothy and Morgan Shea, a great grandchild, Damian Caya, 2 brothers, William Fisher of Thompson, Francis Fisher of Beverly, MA, a sister, Mary Dinsdale of Putnam, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Fisher. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
