Charles J. Dondero

Charles J. Dondero, 83, of North Windham, husband of Betty (Jacobs) Dondero, died Monday February, 20, 2006 in Plainfield. He was born April 4, 1922 in East Hartford, the son of Charles and Helena (Potter) Dondero and had lived in North Windham all his life. He owned and operated a farm in North Windham for 20 years. Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 20 years by the State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture as an Agricultural Inspector. Mr. Dondero was a member of the North Windham Volunteer Fire Department for 65 years serving as chief for two terms totaling more than 20 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Diane Dondero of North Windham, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Bessette of North Windham and their daughters, Jacqueline Slorach and Jennifer Bessette, both of Windham, a great grandchild, Rhiannon Slorach and 2 nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery.
