Charles A. Dickinson, 90, of North Windham, husband of Viola (LaVallee) Dickinson, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in Windham. He was born May 20, 1918 in Roxbury, CT, the son of Albert and Nora (Lynch) Dickinson and had lived in New Britain for many years before moving to North Windham 9 years ago. Charles was a member of St. Margaret Church in Scotland. He loved the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed smoking cigars, watching UConn Basketball and hunting. In addition to his wife of 63 years he is survived by three children, Daniel Dickinson and his wife Terry of Southington, Alex Dickinson and his wife Sue of Windham, Marie Dickinson and her partner Judy Beaulieu of South Windham, two brothers, Robert Dickinson of MA, Daniel Dickinson of Bethel, two sisters, Phebe Brulotte of East Haven, Kathleen Weldon of Ansonia, five grandchildren, Eric Dickinson and his wife Kate, Thomas Dickinson and his wife Julie, Andrew Dickinson and his wife Wanda, Peter Dickinson and his wife Nora and Mark Dickinson, five great grandchildren, Lisa, Olivia, Mateo, Isabella and Kailee Dickinson, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Dickinson, 2 grandchildren, Craig and Quincey Dickinson, several brothers and sisters. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Church, Rte. 14, Scotland. Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Church Restoration Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226 or St. Joseph Living Center Resident Fund, 14 Club Rd.
