Charles F. Chesters Sr., 85, of Hampton, husband of the late Grace (Kimball) Chesters, died Thursday March 4, 2004 at the Windham Hospital. He was born April 29, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Charles and Lucille (Anderson) Chesters and had lived in Hampton all his life. Mr. Chesters owned and operated a poultry farm in Hampton for many years and was most recently employed at Stop & Shop in Willimantic. He was a member of the Hampton Congregational Church, the Little River Grange #36, Eastern Star Lodge #44 A.F.& A.M. and the Hampton B Dartball team. As a young man he was very involved with 4-H programs. He organized the first 4-H Fair in Hartford County and was one of the founders of the 4-H Camp in Abington. He is survived by a son and daughter-in law, William and Dorothy J. Chesters Sr. of Chaplin, 5 grandchildren, William Chesters Jr., Cheryl Dow, Sherry Chesters, Cindy Chesters and Laura Chesters, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Robert K. Chesters and Charles Chesters Jr. and a grandson Gary Chesters. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton Congregational Church, Main St. Hampton.
