Celia Varrieur of Windham, passed on to eternal rest on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at her home. She was born in Willimantic the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Gadue) Varrieur and was a lifelong area resident. Celia had attended local schools and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Prior to retiring from UConn as a supervisor with twenty five years of service, she had been employed at American Thread Co. in Willimantic and Post Narrow Fabrics in Andover. She was a gentle and deeply spiritual soul who loved nature and growing things. Her vegetable gardens were bountiful as was her fruit orchard. She loved her home, nature and all of God's creatures. She was predeceased by brothers Alfred Fredette, Joseph Varrieur and Wilfred Varrieur and sisters Lillian Lavoie, Mary Haddad, Marian Hamlin and Mildred Gorton. She is survived by her sister Antoinette Dziavit of Windham, many nieces and nephews and her loyal friend and care giver Lucille. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with burial following in St. Mary Cemetery, Baltic. Memorial donations may be made in Celia's name to American Lung Assoc. of CT., 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT. 06108-3272.
