Caroline Shaney Obituary
Caroline L. Shaney, 86, of North Windham, CT passed away peacefully after a brief battle with dementia, April 17, 2020.
Caroline was married to Stanley J. Shaney for 61 years before his passing in 2016. They both had a 1950 American-style life; school, military, buying a house, raising children and adventurous travel during their retirement years.
She enjoyed her life to the fullest. Her family did know she would sneak away some days for stress relief for an afternoon of “highball” poolside with her sister. Her quiet, good humor resolve, in good days and bad, will be missed.
Caroline had memberships in numerous organizations but most active in the early days with the Rainbow Girls/Women Eastern Star Lodge No. 24 Merrow, Connecticut.
She leaves three children, Caroline Schlehofer, Steven and Mitchell Shaney, along with several grandsons.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Healthcare Norwich office for their professional courtesy and common sense in helping with Caroline in her final months battling dementia.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside Celebration of Life service will be scheduled in the Summer of 2020 at Mansfield Center Cemetery in Mansfield Center, CT.
