Carole Mae Lapis

Carole Mae Lapis, 73 of Columbia, CT, beloved wife of George Lapis Jr. passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born on May 28, 1944 in Cortland, NY. Carole lived in Columbia for the past 47 years. The greatest joy in Carole?s life was spending time with her children and granddaughters. Family was the focus of her life. She also enjoyed gardening, seaside activities and wintering in Florida. Carole was an avid gardener and homemaker who enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends. She was a member of the Columbia Congregational Church and was a past deacon there. She was employed by Windham Hospital and Windham Surgical Group for many years. Carole is survived by her husband of 50 years, George; son, Brian Lapis of south Hadley, MA; daughter, Amy Watson and her devoted son-in-law Rick Watson of Manchester, CT; granddaughters, Avery and Zoe Lapis and Annabelle and Dina Watson; sister, Joan Houtz of Dana Point, CA; brother, Allen Purdy of Poughkeepsie, NY and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte195) Willimantic, CT. A Memorial Service will follow at Columbia Congregational Church 125 Rte. 87 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carole?s memory may be made to Silver Lake Conference Center, 223 Low Rd.
