Carole-Jean Gooder, 80, of Pomfret, wife of William Gooder, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. She was born October 14, 1931 in Willimantic, the daughter of Herman and Viola (Cady) Slater and had lived in Pomfret for over 40 years. She was a school teacher in Ashford, Willimantic and Pomfret, retiring from the Rectory School in Pomfret as a teacher and administrator. Carole-Jean was a member of the Northeast CT Concert Choir for over forty years and was a former member of the Pomfret Board of Education and the Board of Trustees for Woodstock Academy. In addition to her husband of 28 years, she is survived by four children, David Teed of Woodstock, Lynne Cap and her husband Michael of Middletown, Paul Teed and his wife Melissa of Midland, MI and Cynthia Gwiazda and her husband John of Wallingford, two sisters, Shirley Smith of Hollywood, FL and Virginia Rodechko of Wilkes-Barre, PA, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her memorial service will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church, Episcopal, in Pomfret. Burial will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. There are no calling hours.
