Carol Dickman Gould, 68, of Coventry, CT, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on November 1, 2025.
Born on October 1, 1957, in New Britain, CT, Carol was the youngest daughter of William and Florence (Kowar) Dickman. She grew up in the Southington-Plainville area, making many lifelong friends along the way. She graduated from Southington High School and then attended the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music education and her master’s degree in piano. Along the way, she was crowned Miss Southington in 1978. Carol’s passion was music, which she made into her career. She taught both band and chorus, at various levels and in a number of different school systems, most recently instructing fifth-grade band students in Coventry, from which she retired in 2019. She also gave private lessons, teaching the intricacies of piano to many local students over the years.
Carol experienced life to its fullest. She was very active, enjoying sports ranging from hiking, running, and biking to tennis and cross-country skiing, and was always up for a musical event. She liked good food and was an excellent cook. Her extensive travels with family and friends included many far-flung destinations, such as the American West, Europe, and Australia. She loved the four family dogs owned over the years, all of them vizslas. Carol was full of love and kindness, gracing all with her wonderful smile and always willing to help those in need.
Carol is survived by her husband of 34 years, Phillip Gould, and daughter Emma Gould, both of Coventry, CT, as well as her mother, Florence Dickman (still going strong at 102!) of New Britain, CT, her sister Elaine Bedard of Southington, CT, her brother William Dickman and his wife Patti Hodgdon-Dickman of Plymouth, VT, her half-sister Lenise Kilbourne of North Bend, OR, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and in-laws, and innumerable loving friends and colleagues from all stages of her full life.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Buckingham Heights for their wonderful care of Carol in the final chapter of her life.
