Calvin C. Knowlton

Calvin C. Knowlton, 87, of Storrs, husband of Harriette (Curtis) Poreda Knowlton, died Monday, December 29, 2008 in Windham. He was born January 22, 1921 in Willimantic, the son of George and Hulda (Anderson) Knowlton and was a life long resident of Ashford and Mansfield. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and prior to his retirement was employed for 30 years by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. He enjoyed gardening and going to flea markets. In addition to his wife he is survived by six children, Daniel Knowlton and his wife Mary of NJ, Gerald Knowlton and his wife Betty of Willington, Annette Knowlton of Ashford, Karen Sirico and her husband Joseph of Old Saybrook, Judith Fox and her husband Michael of NH, Jonathan Knowlton and his wife Kim of Eastford; twenty four grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Bertha (Curtis) Knowlton and two infant daughters. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the Storrs Cemetery.
