Brookie Parker Obituary
Brookie A. Parker, 82, of Coventry, CT passed away surrounded by her family on February 26, 2023. She was born in Delbarton, WV, and grew up playing in the hollers of Mingo County where the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s fought their famous battles. She was the daughter of the late Bill Maynard who was a coal miner and Helen (Davis) Frost. Helen adopted a daughter Sue and gave mom a sister. She later remarried Jack Frost and gave mom a brother Rocky who is a legend in the Virginia Beach area for fishing and crabbing, something our mother absolutely loved to do and passed on to her children.

She was first married to Bob Williams and later in life when she moved to CT, she married Ralph I. Parker. They created quite a family mixing strong southern roots and northern yankees who come together whenever the call comes in.

Brookie went to high school in West Virginia and later moved to Virginia Beach and eventually settled in Connecticut in the 70’s all the while never completely losing her southern accent. She worked at Rogers Corporation from the 1970’s until she retired from there in 2003. She loved Elvis Presley and Loretta Lynn and loved to dance and listen to their music and watch their movies. She loved family gatherings and was happiest when she had her whole family together. She was quite the southern cook and often made her famous pinto beans and corn bread. Everyone loved her sausage biscuits and gravy. She was a poker player and loved gambling at Mohegan Sun Casino often playing “her triple cash machine” and scratch off tickets. She never said goodbye when she ended a conversation she always said, “see you” and she was loved by many, young and old; mom made a lot of lifelong friends who became family. She had a strength about her that she passed onto her children and grandchildren. She loved her dogs and took great care of them; she had 20 plus dogs over her lifespan ranging from poodles to pit bulls and German Shepherds and was with her beloved Sugar when she passed.  She also loved the series “Game of Thrones” aka “Game of Thorns” and we bet she watched the series over 50 times along with TVD & The Originals. If she was home, one of those shows were on.   She was a beautiful soul who loved a good party and was a social butterfly.

Brookie is survived by her children Bobby Williams, Rhonda Sue Doubleday and her husband Stan, Ronnie Williams, Kathy Rossignol and her husband Dean, Kandy Parker, and Billie Jo Parker, brother Rocky Frost and his wife Kim and their children Krystal and Little Rock. She was predeceased by her sister Sue.

She has many grandchildren, Shane, Brandy, Robert, Kirby, Logan, Morgan, George, Christopher and wife Maria, Scott and wife Salena, predeceased by Michael, Joanne and husband Marty, Jamie, Sierra and Thomas

Great grandchildren, Alex, Sammy, Madison, Emma, Skyla, Dillion, Makayla, Bailey, Ryliegh, Khira, & Cordelia.

The friends who became family are many and she always welcomed you, fed you and made you feel wanted. Angie, Nikki, & Josh; Haley, Chris, Christopher & Trey; Rob who was her partner in crime at the Casino; Reece her virtual bowling partner; Andi who was like another grandchild, Nathan, who Sugar loved almost as much as our mother; Karen, who she recently reconnected with and was happy to have rejoin our family, Jimmy, and his wife Cheryl who she loved to follow on their adventures through social media. She loved to catch up and see what everyone was doing and pictures, often saving them on her phone so she could share.

Brookie’s services will be held at the convenience of her family. Notifications will be sent out when a date is determined. It will be a celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, our mother would love it if you rescued a dog or any animal in need, (you can never have too many) give a can or bag of dog food to a shelter of your choice. And put aside your grievances and love your family. She often said “family is strength”.
