Brendan Barrett Johnston, of Mansfield Center, born June 21, 1975 in Norwich, CT, died September 3,2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Amber Johnston and two daughters Ella and Tess of Mansfield Center, his brother Kevin Johnston of Charlestown, RI, and father Bob Johnston of Columbia, CT. He is also survived by an extensive group of family that are friends, and friends that are family. He was predeceased by his mother Linda Redding Johnston. Brendan graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester CT, and Eastern Connecticut State University. He was an employee of Cigna Healthcare in their Marketing Division. Brendan was an avid music enthusiast and accomplished drummer. He performed at such venues as The Webster Theatre, Toads Place, and The Lion's Den in New York City. Brendan enjoyed traveling to pursue his interests, and in doing so made friends all over the world. Brendan was a loving and caring father, husband, son, brother and friend. The one word that people have used time and again to describe Brendan, is loyal. He had great perseverance and determination to set and complete goals and to make those around him happy and feel good about life. Visitation will be held at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT Friday Sept.6 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel, North Eagleville Rd. Storrs, CT Saturday Sept. 7 at 12:00 noon, with a reception to follow.
