Brenda Diane Mooney Kirschenbaum, 49, of Windham, CT passed away suddenly on June 19, 2016. She is now reunited with the love of her life, her ?Prince Charming,? Howie Kirschenbaum, who passed away in January of 2015. Brenda was born at Windham Hospital on May 10, 1967, the daughter of Beverly Prouty Mooney and Lawrence J. Mooney. She was a lifelong resident of Windham Center, attending Windham Public Schools and graduating from Windham High School. She attended Huntington Institute in Norwich, receiving a medical assistant certificate. As a young girl, she was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, as well as a member of the local Brownie troop. For the last 20 years, she has been employed at Quarry Street Internal Medicine. She started as a medical assistant, and then became a receptionist for one of the physicians in the office. A tireless and dedicated employee, she will be missed by both the staff and patients. Brenda loved life and family. She was a shoulder to lean on and an ear to bend and a dear friend, sister, wife and daughter. She was a mentor to her nieces and nephews. She dearly loved her husband, and until his passing they enjoyed Harley rides together, bonfires and hosting gatherings at their home. She was an avid collector of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, loved butterflies, but mainly loved life and people. She was predeceased by her father Lawrence J. Mooney, nephew Jimmy Mooney and mother-in-law Lesley Kirschenbaum. She leaves behind her mother and close companion Beverly Mooney of North Windham, brothers Lawrence S. Mooney and his wife Janice of Windham, Glenn Mooney of Willington, sister Laurie Keegan and her friend Anthony Boucher of Coventry, nieces Janelle Mooney, Ashley Pereira and her husband Nelson, Shannon Keegan, nephew Greg Mooney and his wife Lucrezia, great-nieces Lydia and Camilla, and nephews Nelson Jr. and Seth. She also leaves behind an extended family on her late husband?s side, including her father-in-law Arthur Kirschenbaum and his wife Cheryl Pomerantz, and sister-in-law Marjorie Pim and her family. Brenda made life sweeter for countless friends and her feline kids, Socks and Mitts. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4:00 ? 7:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. The Funeral Service will be Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 am, at The First Congregational Church of Windham, 4 Windham Center Rd, Windham, CT.
