Bradford Blodgett Obituary
Bradford Calvin Blodgett, 82, passed quietly into the arms of Jesus on January 15, 2024. Born in Sanford, Maine on September 14, 1941 to Volney Bradford Blodgett and Lillian Densis (Cushman) Blodgett. While his father was working in the shipyards during the war, he grew up in Brookfield, VT where his parents ran a small dairy farm.
Second to the oldest of nine siblings, he was pre-deceased by his older brother Volney Blodgett, known to all as Sam. He leaves behind his wife Anne Blodgett of Scotland, CT; daughter Gwendolyn Blodgett and Russ Cluett of Hudson, FL; daughter Grace Blodgett of Scotland, CT; siblings Gene, Carol, Wayne and wife Christy of VT; Rose Blodgett Mihalik and husband George of PA; Judy Blodgett Rush and husband Iain of CA; Ted Blodgett of Puerto Rico; and Valerie Broe and husband Shawn of VT; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1068 in Canterbury, CT and the American Legion Post 19 in Windham, CT. He served his country from 1961-1965 in the US Army as Private First Class during the Cold War stationed in Germany; from 1966-1970 in the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant E5 during the Vietnam War at the Karat Air Force Base in Thailand; and from 1972-1987 in the Army National Guard in Vermont and later Massachusetts. He was a private in God's army until January 15th, 2024.
Bradford’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Christian Fellowship Church, 140 Pudding Hill Rd., Hampton, CT, burial to follow at the Scotland Cemetery.
