Betty Jane Nigro

Betty J Nigro, a longtime resident of Ashford died on Tuesday, June 12th at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation . Betty was born on October 27, 1924 in Nashville, Tennessee. She served her country as a WAVE in the US Navy during the Second World War. Betty, along with her late husband Tom, will be remembered for their warmth and generosity to all who entered their home. There was always a pot cooking on the stove, an inviting chair at the table and when needed, an extra bedroom to be inhabited for a night or a couple of years. All of Betty's children and grandchildren have benefited from Betty's ability to turn their house into a home with her masterful and artistic talents, be it sewing curtains and bedspreads or painting masterpieces to go over their couch. Betty is survived by her children: William McAdam, Kathleen and Wayne Banks, Scott McAdam, AnnMarie and Ron Eddy and Ken and Suzanne Andersen. She is also survived by her grandchildren: John and Kim McAdam, Lisa McAdam Donegan and David Donegan, Nathan Banks, Adam Banks, Ashleigh McAdam, Brady Andersen, Hally and Ian Gillespie, Matthew Albert, and Meghann Eddy. Betty's calling hours will be held at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday evening, June 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Chapel, North Eagleville Rd. in Storrs on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Pink Cemetery, Storrs.
