Bertram L. Koppisch Sr

Bertram Lester Koppisch Sr., 68, of Willimantic, died peacefully at home on Saturday April 2, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hartford on April 26, 1942, the son of the late Martin C. and Ellinor (Jurgensen) Koppisch. He joined the Willimantic Fire Department in 1964 and retired as Captain in 1990. He was also an electrician throughout his life and was co-owner of Koppisch/Amon Electric and was a member of IBEW Local 35. Bert was involved in many area social organizations and enjoyed many summers spent at Sun Valley Resort in West Stafford. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dolores (Decelles) Koppisch, his sons, Bertram L. Koppisch Jr. and his wife Tina and Noel V. Koppisch, both of Willimantic, his daughter, Belinda Koppisch LaFlamme and her husband Stephen of Windham, his stepchildren, Jason Carpenter and his wife Roxanne and Daniel Carpenter and his wife Stacey, his sisters, Gloria Koppisch Davis and her husband William of Somers, CT, Lee Scully Sisson of Willimantic and Joyce Scully Peppin and her husband James of Ashford. He also leaves his grandchildren, Cole and Conal Koppisch of Willimantic and Jadyn and Nicholas LaFlamme of Windham. He was "Papa" to Troy and Evan Carpenter and Cody and Chase Carpenter, and leaves several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Martin C. Pepin Jr. His family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
