Bertha Ann Hatem, 57, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 21, 1959, daughter of the late Alma (Shakir) and Edward Hatem, in Hartford, CT. Bertha grew up in East Hartford and attended the East Hartford School system. She had a love for fashion and cosmetology and continued her studies in accounting. Bertha brought smiles to all and her love of life was always evident. She had a green thumb and was passionate with gardening always sharing her seasonal garden vegetables. Bertha is survived by her sons, William Patterson-Hatem and Frank Poirier with Holly Tomkunes, and granddaughter, Addison Poirier. She leaves her brothers and sisters, George Hatem, Kathleen Cataldi and husband Jim Cataldi, Edward Hatem and wife Pamela Hatem, her sister Alma Theresa Hatem, and her brother-in-law Joseph King predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Hatem-King. Bertha leaves her niece Michelle Hatem Lorentz with husband Brandon and son, Hudson, Amber Hatem, Christin Marie Cataldi, Katelynn King and nephews Austin Hatem and Zachary Hatem. She leaves many family members and dear friends in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Bertha embraced life; she was always generous and kind. She will be missed dearly and her love will be held eternally in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your choice of the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the New Britain Hospital for Special Care Foundation. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11, 2017, 9:00 am at St. Maurice Church in Bolton, CT. The family will receive relatives and friends half?hour prior.
