Bert N. Vertefeuille, 89, of Lebanon, husband of Jeanne (Bender) Vertefeuille, died Monday, November 7, 2011 in Windham. He was born August 19, 1922 in Willimantic, the son of Denis and Emma (Richmond) Vertefeuille. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement Bert was employed as a chef for the UConn Department of Dining Services. He enjoyed camping and watching sports. In addition to his wife of 39 years he is survived by eight children. Christine Connell, Kimberly Lescoe and her husband Eugene and Deborah Lee, all of Lebanon, Karen Neborsky and her husband Steve of Willington, Nancy Chase of New London, Jean Cutler and her husband Ron in Colorado, Tamara Greenleaf and her husband Todd in Oregon and Nelson Vertefeuille and his wife Ann of Groton, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Everett, Eddie and George and son-in-law John Connell. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the New Lebanon Cemetery, Waterman Rd. Lebanon. There are no calling hours.
