Benjamin Harry Gottlieb, 82, son of the late Leopold Gottlieb and Lois Heard Gottlieb died peacefully on Thursday, October 23rd, 2014 with his beloved wife of 62 years, Jennie (Buskey) Gottlieb, by his side. Benjamin was born on August 17, 1932 in Framingham, MA, and was a long time resident of Willimantic, CT. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S Lake Champlain. He was very proud of his years of service and was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Benjamin retired from Pratt and Whitney of East Hartford, CT where he was employed as a Sheet Metal Specialist for over 40 years. Benjamin is pre-deceased by sons, Samuel Gottlieb and Lawrence Gottlieb and brother David Gottlieb. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Robert Gottlieb and sister-in-law Betty of Enfield, CT, sisters, Joyce Wisnesky of Enfield, CT, Barbara Lucas of Willimantic, CT, and Marjorie Lavoie of Pinehurst, NC. Benjamin is also survived by his children Joanne Symmes and husband Forrest of South Windsor, CT, Richard Gottlieb and wife Jacqueline of Willimantic, CT, Steven Gottlieb of Willimantic, CT, Melissa Benito and husband Kevin of Scotland, CT. Grandchildren William Gottlieb of Las Vegas, NV, Dustin Gottlieb of Rocky Hill, CT, Nicole Gottlieb of South Windham, CT, Jason Symmes of Willimantic, CT, Daniel Gottlieb of Willimantic, CT, Jessica Rivera and husband Luis of South Windsor, Benjamin Gottlieb of Bloomfield, CT, Kimberly Symmes of Broad Brook, CT, Amanda Gottlieb of Willimantic, CT, and Katelyn, Kyle and Kara Benito of Scotland, CT. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195), Willimantic, CT, at 10:00am on Monday, October 27th, with Funeral Service beginning at 11:00am. Burial to follow at the Windham Center Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to North Central Hospice Palliative Care, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066, Disabled American Veterans Association, 307 Main St, Norwich, CT 06360, or a charity of one's choice.
