Barry Paquet Obituary
Barry Paquet passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024. He was born on January 7, 1956, in Willimantic CT, to Donald and Muriel Paquet. Barry was a long-time resident of Network Inc. and lived within many homes throughout the agency, and most recently at the Five Mile CLA in Putnam. Barry was very proud of his home in Putnam and enjoyed his final years there.
Barry had an incredible sense of humor, and certainly kept his staff on their toes. Barry always had a plethora of questions for staff to ensure he always had their attention. Barry loved his jewelry, chain wallet, and knowing how much money he had to spend. Barry would be sure to ask all staff, multiple times a day, how much money he had. He was proud of his financial stability in his later years, and all his personal belongings, especially his cross necklace and watch collection.
Barry worked in his younger years delivering the Reminder with the assistance of his long-time staff Fred Owens. Once retired, Barry continued to spend his days with Fred out in the community volunteering at the church, joining in on social gatherings, or leisurely enjoying local stores and parks. Barry had many dedicated and caring staff that worked with him, and some that continued to stay in touch after they retired from the field. Barry maintained a close bond with former staff Cyndi Chmura and Deborah Kelley. Cyndi continued to take Barry out on special trips when he was up for it.
Barry loved his family, and enjoyed visits with Daryl at the group home, and participating in family functions with his whole family. Barry leaves behind a brother Daryl Paquet, nieces and nephews; Tiffany, Nina, Maddison, Daryl Jr, and Joshua. As well as great nieces, Katelyn, Ella, Callie, Isabella, Illiana, Zaylee, and Emma. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Muriel. Barry also leaves behind his Network family, his housemates and the dedicated and caring staff at his group home. The Five Mile CLA will not be the same without Barry. He will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11am at the New Willimantic Cemetery, 1700 W. Main Street, Willimantic, CT.
