Barbara Jean Little

Barbara Jean (Hunt) Little, age 93, passed away on May 11, 2025, at 12:48 AM in Putnam, CT. She was born on August 21, 1931, in Waterbury, CT, daughter of Maurice C. and Ella A. Hunt, both deceased.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Alfred Little and brother Philip Hunt, and is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and Dwight Patten, four grandchildren, Rachel Smith, Theresa Patten-Kochert, Carolyn Patten, and Derek Patten, five great-grandchildren, Madeline Garcia, Asher Ross, Rosemary Smith, Lucy Kockert, and Elisabeth Kockert, two great-great-grandchildren, and many friends. She will be sadly missed.
Barbara was a remarkable woman, graduating from UConn, then working as a social worker at the Norwich Social Services office, Norwich State Hospital, and Uncas on the Thames Hospital until her retirement at 55, while simultaneously raising two sons as a single mother. She was also a classically trained concert pianist, frequently entertaining residents of the various retirement facilities at which she resided in her later years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 11:00 AM at the 1st Congregational Church, 4 Windham Center Road, Windham, CT with Pastor Jim Beesley officiating, followed by internment at 12:00 PM at Windham Center Cemetery, Windham Center Road, Windham, CT. A reception will follow.
