Barbara E. Fitts

Barbara E. Fitts, 69, of Chaplin, wife of Fred Fitts, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was born March 10, 1937 in Hartford, the daughter of Allen and Nina (Scott) Bemont and has lived in Chaplin for over 20 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed for over 20 years at the former Mansfield State Training School. She and Fred traveled all over the country and loved to attend 187 ARCT reunions, the Rakkasans. Mrs. Fitts enjoyed flower gardening at their home. In addition to her husband she is survived by 3 children, Michael Fitts and Dale Fitts, both of Chaplin, Lori Hemphill and her husband Edward of Woodstock, a granddaughter, Ashley Hemphill, 2 brothers, Leroy Bemont of Somers, and Leonard Bemont of North Carolina, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Standish in January of this year. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on April 29th at 10:00am at First Congregational Church of Andover, Rte. 6, Andover.
