Barbara attended the Windham school system before going on to earn her associate degree in office management at QVCC. Work and accountability were very important to Barbara, she started working at the age of sixteen at Sears in Willimantic. Following the birth of our sons Bryan and Shawn, Barbara gave up her Job of 7 years at Electric Boat, moving on to start a home daycare center so she could be with and raise her “BOYS” as well as helping and caring for other children and families. Barbara still receives card and well wishes from adults that she cared for as children, which helps tell you what an amazing woman she was. Barbara finished her working career as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Admissions at the University of Connecticut, retiring on January 1 of this year. Barbara considered many of her friends in the office as family. Marie, Darla, Terry, Meghann, Jane, Aida, Allison, Kristy to name a few of the many but you all know how she felt.
Barbara loved the outdoors and wildlife, camping through the years with her family. She was an avid gardener with many flower beds, flowerpots throughout our home and property, along with her bird houses and goldfish pond. They were all feed well that is for sure. We spent years pool side with our boys in the summers when we weren’t attending various levels of baseball games they participated in. The last few years splashing around in the same pool with her grandbabies. Barbara loved the little things in life, coming home from work being with her husband making dinner, a glass of wine nearby, sitting on the deck watching the hundreds of tree sparrows flying overhead at twilight. Barbara enjoyed gymnastics in her youth, bowling with family and friends, and golf for the last ten years.
Holidays were again all about family as we would all host a different holiday at each of our houses. Those gatherings would bring 25 to 30 members of the family together several times every year. Barbara was so proud of her family and to be a part of it. I have been fortunate enough to become part of that family because of my amazing wife Barbara. Having been together since the age of sixteen we were able to grow together and create this wonderful life and family that we both cherished.
My world will be so different without you in it. I will love you always, as you know. Give everyone in heaven a hug and kiss for me Doll.
Barbara’s family would like to thank the Hartford Healthcare Windham Oncology Group for the care and compassion they gave Barbara through this difficult time. To sign an online guestbook visit
