Barbara Buckavich

March 10, 1936 — October 26, 2014

Barbara (DiLorenzo) (Putnam) Buckavich, 78, of Columbia, beloved wife of Daniel Buckavich, passed away on Sunday (October 26, 2014), at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family. Barbara went to East Hartford High School and worked in the Hartford area. Barbara moved to Coventry where she raised a beautiful family with her late husband Walter Putnam. Walter predeceased Barbara in 1980. Barbara and Daniel married in 1987. Together they built a beautiful home in Columbia where they lived happily for 25 years. Barbara loved working in her flower garden and also had a love for animals, especially the deer and humming birds that always visited her yard. Barbara was predeceased by her sister Laura Shanahan. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Daniel. Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her family. She leaves her son Mark Putnam Sr. and his wife Bethany of Georgia, son Timothy Putnam and wife Rebecca of Coventry, daughter Cynthia Pontarelli and her husband Edward of Mansfield, as well as her grandchildren, the light of her eyes, Amanda Day of Mansfield, Amy Carlson and her husband John of Manchester, Danielle Glynn and her husband Keith of Florida, Mark Putnam, Jr. and his fiancAC.e Nikki Epps of Georgia, Eric Simmons of Georgia, and her great-grandchildren Mae and Graeme Carlson of Manchester. If you were fortunate enough to know Barb (Nannie) you will never forget her as she would have forged a special place in your heart. Barbara and her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her nurses Linda, Ann-Marie, and Denise, as well as the staff at the Manchester Cancer Institute for their overwhelming empathy and kindness. Friends can celebrate the life of Barbara with her family on Sunday, November 23, 2014, from 1-4 pm at the Beckish Senior Center, 188 Route 66, Columbia. Barb was a very giving person and wishes in her memory that you give flowers to someone you love and always be kind to animals.
